Counseling
The School Counseling Department supports students in three domains: academic, college/ career and social/emotional development. Families are invited to contact the school counseling department when they have questions or concerns related to their student's academic, behavior and/ or social/ emotional development.
Students are referred to our Intervention Counselor after a collaboration process has been established with the School Counselor. Our approach is goal oriented where a partnership is required between student, parents, teachers and counselor/s. Goals are developed and an intervention plan is created depending on the needs of each student. The referrals are based on the following criteria: multiple grades of D/F, attendance concerns, social-emotional concerns and behavior concerns
Our Wellness Specialist helps to cultivate the wellness of our students, families and staff through a multi-tiered system of support with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention. Our goal is to promote all students' resiliency and positive social emotional wellbeing. Positive mental health contributes to effective stress management and healthy relationships. We want to help our students to reach their potential by supporting their mental and emotional health. Students may meet with the Wellness Specialist individually, in groups, or participate in workshops. The Wellness Center is open daily during lunch and break hours for students to utilize as a calming/quiet space where they can learn about mental health, play games, listen to music, draw/color, or just relax.
